Short Professional summary
Annegret is a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. In her clinics, she sees children with all types of eye and vision problems. Her research interests include myopia, amblyopia, and eye surface inflammation in children.
Within myopia, she is co-leading clinical trials of low-concentration atropine in children in Europe and fundamental research exploring cellular changes underlying myopia progression.
Funded by an NIHR Senior Clinical and Practitioner Award, she is currently developing a Core Outcome Set for myopia treatment trials with children, together with stakeholder representatives including myopia researchers, eye care practitioners, children and young people with myopia and their parents/caregivers, including those from underserved communities.
Prof. Dahlmann-Noor has also set up a highly successful children’s and young people’s advisory group for eye and vision research; the young members advise researchers on how to make their projects and studies more child friendly, thereby increasing research accessibility, feasibility and relevance.
