He is chairman of the department of Ophthalmology III in Quinze-Vingts National Ophthalmology Hospital, Paris and director of the Hospital-University Institute (IHU) FOReSIGHT. He is currently the president of the European Dry Eye Society, Editor-in-chief of the French Journal of Ophthalmology, and member of the prestigious American Ophthalmological Society and Academia Ophthalmologica Internationalis. He was awarded in 2011 silver fellow of ARVO, Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur in 2015 and received in 2020 the Senior Achievement Award of the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
