EuMyS Balkan Chapter

The EuMyS Balkan Chapter is the regional chapter of the European Myopia Society dedicated to advancing myopia management across the Balkans. It brings together ophthalmologists from across the region to foster scientific collaboration, share clinical expertise and knowledge, and promote evidence-based approaches to myopia prevention and management.

Why a regional chapter?

Myopia prevalence continues to rise across Europe, and regional collaboration plays a key role in translating global research into practice adapted to local healthcare contexts. The Balkan Chapter gives ophthalmologists in Southeast Europe a dedicated space to connect with peers facing shared clinical and public health challenges, while remaining closely aligned with the work of the European Myopia Society.

What are the missions of the Balkan Chapter?

The EuMyS Balkan Chapter offers a dedicated session at the EuMyS annual congress, giving visibility to regional data and clinical experience in myopia care. Beyond the congress, the Chapter fosters ongoing collaboration among ophthalmologists across the Balkans — sharing clinical resources, supporting the exchange of expertise, and helping ensure the region's perspective is represented within the broader EuMyS community.
